Bangla Trac To Install 400MW Power Plants

Bangla Trac is going to install 3 separate power plants having a total capacity of 400 MW. The 3 power plants will be installed in Comilla, Jessore and Chittagong. Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB or PDB) has already signed three separate power purchase agreements (PPA) for implementing these 3 oil-based power plants on Thursday.

Power Secretary Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, PDB chairman Khaled Mahmood were present among others at the signing ceremony. Bangla Trac and Acron managing director Tarique Ekramul Haque and PDB secretary Mina masuduzzaman signed the PPA on behalf of their respective organizations. Besides, joint secretary Sheikh Faizul Amin and PGCB secretary Asraf Hossain and Bangla Trac Managing Director signed the implementation agreement (IA) on behalf of their organizations.

Bangla Trac will implement two separate diesel-fired power plants including 200MW at Daudkandi of Comilla and another 100MW at Noapara in Jessore for a duration of five years. The PDB will purchase per unit of electricity at Tk 20.33 from these plants. Two plants is expected to begin operation in February next.

Besides, Acron Infrastructure Services Limited will implement 100MW furnace oil-fired plant at Julda in Chittagong. The plant is expected to start its operation from May, 2018. The PDB will purchase electricity from the plant at Tk 8.40 for 15 years period.

Bangla Trac managing director Tarique Ekramul Haque said to Energy Bangla that, financing on the power plant is assured already He expressed his hope saying that, the plants will be operational within due time. He informed that, LC was opened to import power plant related parts.
