Finance minister AMA Muhith has said Bangladesh is one of the worst affected countries by climate change but at the same time it has one of the finest mitigation programmes to save people’s lives.
The finance minister made the remarks while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 3rd ABU Media Summit on Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction at Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel Wednesday.
“We have done much better in creating awareness about the impact of climate change as our non-government organisations such as Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon (BAPA) have been working in this sector since the nineties,” he added.
Addressing the programme, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said the media played a vital role in saving people’s lives during the recent flash flood in six districts.
Secretary General of ABU (Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union) also spoke at the programme among others.
