EB Report

Tofael Ahmed, the commerce minister said that, the country’s prevailing gas crisis would be solved within the year of 2018. The country’s reserve of gas is depleting and that’s why the government is planning to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from abroad to meet the country’s growing demand for gas in every sector.

The commerce minister said so after a meeting with the Qatar Ambassador in Bangladesh Ahmed Mohamed Al- Dehaimi that held at the secretariat on Monday.

The commerce minister informed the media that, they discussed on importing LNG from Qatar in the meeting. Qatar will import Agar, KSRM steel, BRB cables etc from Bangladesh soon and Qatar is willing to invest in Bangladesh, said Tofael Ahmed.

Tofael Ahmed also invited Qatar’s ambassador to invest more in the country. He said that, the Bangladeshi government is willing to allot one of the hundredths Special Economic Zones to Qatar if they want to invest here. However, already a few businessmen from Qatar expressed their interest in investing in a total of 8 projects including projects of installing LNG terminals, said the commerce minister.
