Gas-Fired Power Plants Shut Down In Ctg

Jannatul Ferdousy

All the gas-fired power plants have shut down in Chittagong due to gas crisis. Gas allocated to the power plants is now being supplied to the fertiliser factories.
Resumption of electricity supply from the power plants is uncertain. Electricity crisis in Chittagong has increased manifolds.
Due to gas crisis the government operates the power plants and fertiliser factories alternatively.
An official of the Power Development Board (PDB) said on February 2 supply of gas to all the power plants have been stopped, resulting in the shut down of 150 MW and 60 MW power plants in Shikolbaha.
He said some power crisis has been created in Chittagong but there is no load shedding. Supply of power situation is normal.
The plants need 15 crore mmcfd of gas to generate 350 MW of electricity a day.
