India Has Enough Power, BD Might Want To Import More: Arun Jaitley

India, once again proposed Bangladesh to import power from them. The proposal came from the Indian finance minister Arun Jaitley who has been currently visiting Bangladesh.

The Indian finance minister said that, India has enough power to trade off and Bangladesh can import it from them if it wishes. Today, he said so in a meeting of the high level businessmen from both the countries that held at the hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.

Arun Jaitley is now at Dhaka for a three day visit in response to an invitation from Bangladdesh’s finance minister A M A Muhit. The Indian finance minister said that, the current friendly relationship between Bangladesh and India can be used to enhance the development of economy. Various important issues between these two countries are solved now; the two countries can now work in the fields of agriculture, medicine, IT, research, innovation and health industry in a collaborative approach.

Arun Jaitley said that, Bangladesh and India may also utilize the potentials of Sundarbans and sea-beaches in a collaborative approach for tourism. He also added that, both the countries share some common features including highly dense population. India is undertaking some projects that will develop skilled manpower, which will lessen the unemployment problem. He sought assistance from Bangladesh in developing skilled manpower and solving the problem of unemployment.

Bangladesh’s commerce minister Tofael Ahmed said that, Bangladesh is moving towards a stable economic condition under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The country will soon be the middle income country under the same leadership within 2021, he added.

Among others FBCCI president Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Indian FICCI president Pankaj Patel, FBCCI first vice president Shekh Fajle Fahim, FBCCI vice president Muntakim Ashraf, other FBCCI and business organization leaders were present at the meeting.
