The government has appointed a few new faces at the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC), the independent watchdog body of the country’s power and energy sector. Monowar Islam, a former secretary of the power division has been appointed as the new chairman of the BERC and three other fellow members to the chairman were also been appointed.
Former managing director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd Abdul Aziz Khan, former chief engineer of Bangladesh Power Development Board Md Mizanur Rahman, and former additional secretary Mahmudul Haq Bhuiyan were the three newly appointed members of the BERC.
According to a presidential order, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division (EMRD) issued a circular in this regard yesterday.
Aziz Khan, the newly recruit member said to the Energybangla that, he has collected his appointment letter and already submitted his joining letter.
The newly appointed chairman and members are expected to join in their duty from Thursday.
