PDB, DPDC, DESCO, WZPDCL Violated Constitution: Standing Committee

The parliamentary standing committee has alleged that, the state-run Power Development Board (PDB), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCo) and West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDCL) has violated the Constitution. The four state-run agencies have failed to carry out a bunch orders set by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on public accounts of the Jatiya Sangsad.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee has expressed its discontent over the performance of these four state-owned agencies of the country’s energy and power sector in a meeting held on Thursday. The committee has also alerted the respective ministry about these agencies. The chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on public accounts Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir presided over the meeting where other committee members namely Md. Abdus Shahid, Mohammad Amanullah, Md. Rustam Ali Faraji, Moeen Uddin Khan Badal and Rebeka Momin were also present at that meeting.

The committee has discussed various issues at the meeting regarding the agencies including audit reports and recent activities.
