PGCB Forms Investigation Committee To Probe The Grid Failure

A committee is formed to probe the recent grid failure that forced power outage at around 38 districts of the country’s northern and southern part. Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), the responsible authority for the operation of the national grid system has formed the 4 members committee headed by PGCB chief engineer (Transmission-2) Kamrul Hasan.

PGCB spokesperson ABM Bodroddoza Khan informed that the committee would have to submit a report regarding the investigation within 5 working days. however, the power generation of most of the power plants was restored after the evening as those were also forced to shut down for the grid failure, he added.

The power transmission line of Ghorashal-Iswardi suddenly tripped at around 11.20 AM on Tuesday while the refit of another grid line of Ashuganj-Sirajganj was already going on. The sudden grid failure in two different transmission line forced power outage in 38 districts. However, the power supply was resumed partially for a few region after the evening of Tuesday.
