PGCB, PGCI sign deal for consultancy

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI) on Tuesday signed a deal involving Rs 22.11 crore as consultancy services on extension of Indo-Bangla inter-connectivity electricity transmission line.
PGCB Company Secretary Md Ashraf Hossain and PGCI General Manager (international business unit) Anil Mehra signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations. PGCB Managing Director Masum-Al-Beruni, Executive Director Chowdhury Alamgir Hossain and senior officials attended the programme.
Under the deal, PGCI will complete its job with preparing international tender documents, site inspection and engineering document within 31 months.
Indo-Bangla inter-connectivity electricity transmission line will gain capacity by another 500 megawatts (MW) as Bangladesh and India want to exchange more power between them.
Bangladesh-India power grid now has a transmission capacity of 500MW of electricity. The expansion of the grid capacity will help import another 500MW of electricity from Delhi�s open market in 2018.
