PGCB to replace Transmission Line at Uttara

A 1.6-kilometer underground power transmission line of the capital’s Uttara area are likely to be replaced by a higher capacity one. The replacement will in fact beef up the existing load capacity of the transmission line and the overall quality of power supply in that area.

Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd. (PGCB) will replace the underground line which is currently maintained by Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) and this whole replacement project will be financed by the DESCO as well.

A deal was signed on Monday at the PGCB head office in the capital regarding this replacement project of the transmission line. Chinese company CCCE-Eturn will combinedly replace the existing transmission line at Uttara. PGCB company secretary Md. Ashraf Hossain and CCCE-Eturn co-ordinator D K M Fazlul Haque signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations. PGCB managing director Masum Al Beruni, chief engineer (P&D) Pranab Kumar Roy, project director and chief engineer Md. Shafiqur Rahman was present at the deal signing program.

The 132 kV power transmission line from DESCO grid substation at Uttara 3rd phase area to Sonargaon, Janapath road fire service office will be replaced. Part of that transmission line was upgraded earlier similarly, and in this occasion rest of the part will be upgraded, said the program and related sources.

The project is to be completed within the next 8 months counting from the signing date of the deal with an estimated cost of 21 crore taka by CCCE-Eturn.
