Rampal PP Construction Starts Within 2/3 Months

The main construction of Rampal Power Plant will set off within two to three months. The power secretary from both the neighboring countries has confirmed this while visiting the Project site yesterday. A group of high officials and delegates from both the countries related to this project have paid their visit to the Project site of Rampal Maitree Thermal Power Plant.

Among other high officials, Bangladesh’s Power Secretary Monowar Islam, Power Secretary of India Pradeep Kumar Pujari, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) chairman and Managing Director Gurdeep Singh, Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) chairman Md Shamsul Miah, Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) managing director Ujjal Kanti Bhattachary visited the Rampal site.

Monwar Islam said that, there is nothing to fear about the project. The plant will be built maintaining the highest possible standard, which will do no harm to the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the earth, he added. India’s Power secretary explained how neat and perfect projects it is going to be. He said that, the plant will be constructed by the most experienced and skilled companies in a way so that, it may not harm the Environment. He also hoped to finish the construction within due time.

However, on the same day, Sewing and Computer Training programs were inaugurated in that locality to make the locals self-reliant. The Power Secretary of India, Pradeep Kumar and the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan opened the Computer training and Sewing training program respectively. At their visit, they also planted a few trees. Ujjal kanti said that, an amount of 30 crore BDT will be endowed annually to a fund called Power Development Fund, for the development of the locals of Rampal vicinity.
