Tawfiq-e-Elahi thanked the Anti-Rampal activists

Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, BB, the advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources has called the protesters of Rampal project for assisting the government with more researches and support in favor of the Ramapl power plant project.

Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury has called for such assistance from the protesters while talking in a seminar titled ‘Padma to Rampal’ held at the National Press Club on Monday. The seminar was organized by the Study Trust of Bangladesh which was presided over by Dr. A K Abdul Momen. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, the vice chancellor of Jagannath University and Mohammad Hossain, the director general of Powercell spoke among others at the seminar while Dr. Nujhat Chaudhury, the treasurer of Study Trust conducted the program.

Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury said that, the debate about Rampal is over now. The protesters have no point of offending the Rampal power plant project anymore. Now, they should help the government with positive feedback and researchers in favor of the project, he said. The government has more plans on coal to generate electricity from it but the infrastructure needed for it is not enough at all, he added. He then requested the countrymen to stay confident about the Rampal power plant project.

The energy advisor to the prime minister thanked the protesters of Rampal project as they helped the government to dig down to the issue more precisely. In fact, the protesters are also the well-wishers of the country, he added. The Rampal power plant will change the lifestyle of the poor people living in that vicinity. The government is already conducting various studies for the development of the vicinity and safety of the Sundarbans.
