The Area Of Energy Security To Be Broadened: Nasrul Hamid

The state minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid stated that, the area of energy security would be broadened to save more energy. To ensure the best efficient use of energy, master plans are needed to be executed timely, he added.

The state minister said so while he was addressing in a workshop held at the conference room of the Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) office at the city on Wednesday. Md. Tajul Islam, the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee and also a member of the parliament and Ahmad Kaykaus, power secretary also addressed at the workshop among other notable speakers. The main article was presented by Siddique Zobayer, a member of SREDA.

Nasrul Hamid said that, SREDA would have to take the responsibility of making Engineers, Rajuk, businessmen, BGMEA aware of utilizing energy in an efficient manner. According to the government’s 7th five-year plan, the target is to save energy up to 15 percent within the year of 2020 and within 2030 it will have to be at least 30 percent. In order to achieve sustainable development in all sectors, efficient use of energy is a must, the state minister urged. Saving energy would ensure low cost in production. As an instance, it would save up to 7,482 Gig watt-hour power if we could manage to save 15 percent of the energy through efficient usage of it within the year of 2020, he noted.

Siddique Zobayer said that, Industries consume 54 percent of the total power produced but it would save up to 31 percent of the power if the industries could manage to utilize the energy in an efficient fashion
