The ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has launched an idea hunting competition also known as ‘Power and Energy Hackathon’ which the ministry thinks will help to find sustainable solutions to the country’s prevailing energy crisis.
The two-day hackathon is setting off today at the city’s international convention city of Bashundhara area. The state minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid is expected to inaugurate the 2 two-day hackathon program for the young university students.
The state minister said that, ‘hackathon’ is a platform, event for young, thoughtful and creative minds. The country expects creative solutions from the energetic university students to mitigate the country’s energy crisis. Implementing creative ideas with the help of modern technologies can solve most of our problems, he added.
Mohammad Hossain, the director general of Powercell said, we’ll strive to solve the energy crisis and already we’ve been working on efficient usage of energy and power. The ministry has taken so many innovative initiatives to make the country ‘Digital Bangladesh’ and hackathon is one of them, he added.
According to the sources of power division, the hackathon competition includes topics like ensure effective fuel and electricity to households, apply marine energy, energy and power crisis in industries, biomass gas stove implementation, materializing smart grid technology, green and renewable energy solution and ensuring inexpensive electricity connection.
The students will get a certificate of participation and the final winners will get prizes and memorial from the ministry.
