Titas Disconnect 98k Illegal Gas Connections In February

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited, one of the state-owned distribution authority has disconnected a total of 98 thousand 170 illegal gas connections including 6 CNG stations, 2 industries as well as 131.56 kilometers of gas line in this last February.

A mobile court headed by an executive Magistrate conducts the drive. At least 32 individual drives were conducted to detect and eliminate those illegal gas connections, claimed the sources from Titas.

The mobile court terminated illegal gas connections of 6 different CNG filling stations from different areas of Gazipur and Tangail in the last month. The task force also detached the illegal gas connections of two industrial units namely, Lions feeds Ltd from Tin Sarak area of Gazipur and RB fashions from Hotapara area of Gazipur.

Titas has a task force to detect and eliminate the illegal connections since 2014. According to a report of Titas, the task force has eliminated a total of 966 kilometers of illegal lines since then. According to the records of 2013, Titas had at least 4.5 lacs of illegal connections then.
