Titas disconnected 50k illegal gas connections in January

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited, one of the state owned distribution authority has disconnected a total of 49 thousands 161 illegal gas connections including 2 CNG stations, 4 commercial organizations as well as 80.24 kilometers of gas line in this last January.

Titas, in a recent press release said that, it has started conducting drive to snap the illegal connections and eventually cut them off. A mobile court headed by an executive Magistrate conducts the drive.

The task force deployed several mobile courts in different areas of Narsingdi, Gazipur, Naraynganj, Manikganj and Dhaka to detect and terminate the illegal connections. Throughout this whole January the task forces have terminated a total of 49 thousands 161 illegal gas connections of household and hotel, restaurants like commercial places of those areas. The mobile courts also disconnected a total of 80.24 kilometers of gas pipelines with different diameters including 1 inch, 2 inch, ¾ inch, 1.5 inch, 3 inch and so on.

Titas has a task force to detect and eliminate the illegal connections since 2014. According to a report of Titas, the task force has eliminated a total of 966 kilometers of illegal lines since then. According to the records of 2013, Titas had at least 4.5 lacs of illegal connections then.
