Transport Fare To Be Cut if Fuel Prices Reduced

EB Report

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the public transport fare will be reduced if the government decreases the prices of the fuel.

He made the statement in a view exchange meeting with the officials of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) at its office on Thursday.

The minister said: “The public transport fare will surely be decreased even if the prices of the fuel is decreased by Tk1.

“The BRTA fare fixing committee will fix the new rates as soon as they get a circular about the decrease of the fuel prices.”

The government is likely to reduce prices of octane, petrol, diesel and kerosene in three phases.

On March 31, the government reduced the price of furnace oil to Tk42 from Tk60 per litre effective from April 1.
