After PDB, Desco and DPDC, Dhaka West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDCL) now proposed for raising electricity price by 10.36 percent in retail level.
WZPDCL proposed the raise based on the current wholesale price of power.
As per the proposal, if the wholesale price increases then the retail price will increase accordingly.
North-West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (NWZPDCL) Deputy General Manager (DGM, Commerce) Rabindranath Dutta presented the proposal at a public hearing session of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Tuesday (Oct 3).
He said in the statement that NWZPDCL have to count loss Tk 71,6300,000 due to deficit between buy and sale.
Therefore, they failed to pay the required amount of money to the government in 2016-17 FY.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Chairman Monowar Islam and its members– Mijanur Rahman, Rahman Murshed, Abdul Aziz Khan and Mahmudul Bhuiyan were present at the hearing.
