A 150-kilowatt rooftop solar power plant has been installed at the Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner’s Office and connected to the national power grid. The facility was officially inaugurated on Friday by Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, electricity generation from the plant began on July 5. As of Friday, the system had generated a total of 6.13 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity.
The project was implemented at a cost of BDT 7,126,016 and was financed by the Cabinet Division.
Pristine Crossing Point Limited served as the project’s contractor, while the Northern Electricity Supply Company (NESCO), Sirajganj, provided technical assistance during implementation. The rooftop solar system was brought under the Net Metering scheme on July 9.
Speaking after the inauguration, Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud said the government would follow the Sirajganj model to advance the country’s rooftop solar programme and achieve its renewable energy targets.
