Now Bangladesh has 100 power plant. Country reached this milestone by
establishing 71 power plants in last 6 year. Combined capacity of
those 100 plants are 12000MW.
PM Sheikh Hasina inaugurate 3 more power plant in Ashuganj on
Thursday. By those 3 new power plants country reached 100 landmark.
Presently generation capacity of countries power plants are 11,800MW.
But it generates 11,282MW. According to Power Development Board (PDB),
Thursday country had no load shedding. At that time countries power
generation was 8,404MW in the meantime the demand was same. So, there
is no needs of load shedding in that particular day.
Six year earlier in 2009 country has only 27 power plant and the
capacity was 942MW. Now it was 100. 71 plants was constructed in last
six year. By September of 2015 power generation is increased to
14,077MW. From those 2,200 was generated by captive.
Power energy and mineral resource minister Nasrul Hamid said, “This
100 plants is the result of our governments heist effort and it will
continue in future. Another plant will be kicked off in this current
year and 13 plants within next 2 year. We are working to reach 24000MW
landmark”
Thursday PM inaugurate 3 power plants. Those are Ashuganj 225 MW
combined cycle power plant, United Ashuganj 200MW modular power plant
and Ashuganj midland 51MW power plant.
According to PDB all those plants are situated in countries 9 regions.
24 plants are in Dhaka and the capacity is 3,328MW; 16 plants in
Comilla capacity 1579MW; 12 plants in Chittagong capacity 1,325MW; 12
plants in Rajshahi capacity 809MW; 10 plants in Sylhet capacity 987MW;
8 plants in Khulna capacity 1,147MW; 4 plants in Rangpur capacity
280MW.
Power division informs, at present 74 per cent people under
electricity coverage. In 2009 it was 47 per cent. Presently per capita
generation of electricity is 361KWh.
410MW electricity can’t be generated due to crisis of fuel and 1,787MW
electricity generation were paused because of reparation.
