The cabinet committee on government purchases in a meeting on Tuesday approved proposals for importing 3.75 lakh tonnes of fuel oils and 33.6 lakh MMBTU of liquefied natural gas.
The committed accepted the proposal of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation to buy 3.75 lakh tonnes of fuel oils.
Of the amount, 3 lakh tonnes are gas oil to be purchased from the Indonesian companyof PT BumiSiakPusakoat Tk 3,274.32 crore and the rest are 75,000 tonnes ofjet fuel to be bought from the Singaporebased Unipec at Tk 708 crore.
Presided over by finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal virtually, the meeting also approvedfour more proposals including the purchase of 33.6 lakh MMBTUof liquefied natural gas at Tk 991.76 crore with per unit costing $29.25 from M/S Vitol Asia Private Limited.
Additional secretary Sabirul Islam of the
cabinet division briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said that the committee approved a variation proposal from the ministry of home affairs for the variation of Tk 39.93 crore to its project on the import of 3 million e-passports.
The committee also approved the import of phosphoric acid for Tk 100 crore for the TSP Complex at Chattogram, said the official, adding that M/S Poton Traders, Dhaka, would supply the item.
The committee approved two more proposals, the first one for importing 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertiliser from Oman at Tk 259.39 crore and 30,000 tonne granular urea from Qatar at Tk 240.42 crore.
