As factories are experiencing unusual disruption in production due to frequent load shedding, FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin on Wednesday called for rationing of power to keep the production interrupted.
The FBCCI chief made the call at the 3rd meeting of the Standing Committee on Power, Energy and Utilities held at FBCCI on Wednesday afternoon. He also called for short, medium and long term roadmaps to ensure energy security.
Vice-President MA Momen said Bangladesh is now more developed in the energy sector than before. He called upon all to work together to deal with the power crisis.
Director-in-charge of the committee Abul Kashem Khan called for giving emphasis on coal-fired power generation. He also called for reconsideration of the agreements in energy sector in the context of global scenarios.
Chairman of the committee and Energypac Power Generation Ltd. managing director Humayun Rashid said the energy sector would create huge employment in future. Because of it, the sector needs more consideration from the policy makers.
FBCCI directors Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal and Md Naser also spoke at the meeting.
At that time, directors Hafez Harun, Amzad Hossain, committee co-chairmen Salahuddin Yusuf, Mahfuzul Huque Shah were present at the meeting, among others.
