Indian conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji Group has signed an agreement with Bangladesh Power Development Board to supply electricity for 22 years. The parliamentary standing committee on power, energy and mineral resources has questioned the disparity in rates the government is charging for 10 different plants currently under construction in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has got an opportunity of importing electricity from China as the country has recently proposed a 3,000 MW power export to Bangladesh from Kunming, the capital of its southwest province Yunnan.
