The increase in electricity tariffs for marginal consumers has been withdrawn.
The tariff hike for residential lifeline consumers using 0–50 units and 0–75 units of electricity has been canceled. As a result, electricity prices for these two categories of consumers will remain unchanged. The per-unit tariff will continue to be Tk 4.63 and Tk 5.26 respectively.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new decision following requests from electricity distribution utilities and companies.
Electricity tariffs for all other consumer categories will remain as announced on June 3.
