In light of the current global energy situation, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has issued a set of directives aimed at conserving energy.
The directive states that due to the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East, there is a possibility of disruptions in the international energy supply system. In this context, the government considers it necessary to take certain precautionary measures to ensure national energy security and the optimal use of energy resources.
Accordingly, all government institutions, autonomous bodies, private organizations, commercial establishments and all conscious citizens of the country have been requested to immediately adopt the following energy-saving measures.
a) For Natural Gas Conservation:
Appropriate methods must be followed to ensure maximum efficiency in the use of gas for cooking and other purposes.
Unnecessary use of gas-powered appliances must be avoided.
Gas pipelines and burners should be regularly inspected to prevent wastage due to gas leakage.
Everyone must refrain from the illegal use of gas.
b) For Fuel Oil Conservation:
The use of public transportation instead of private vehicles should be encouraged, and ride-sharing (carpooling) should be adopted wherever possible.
Unnecessary travel should be minimized or avoided to reduce the consumption of fuel oil.
c) Institutional Measures:
All government offices and institutions must take necessary steps to ensure energy conservation during office hours and after office hours.
Commercial establishments should adopt energy-efficient practices and avoid excessive use of fuel.
The ministry has requested all concerned to take necessary measures to implement these directives and to raise public awareness on energy conservation. The Energy Division has also sought the cooperation of all in ensuring national energy security.
