Five closed wells of ‘Bibiyana Gas Field’ have resumed production. One wells of the gas field have still remained closed.
Chevron Bangladesh confirm the Bibiyana Gas Plant has resumed full operations, with all process trains operational, five of the six affected wells back online and gas production at normal levels.
The trains and wells were progressively restored this week after a suspension of operations following the discovery of technical anomalies in one well on April 3. The cause of the anomalies in the well, which remains offline, are being investigated.
Regrettably, this impacted gas supplies to consumers for some days this week.
Chevron Bangladesh would like to acknowledge the assistance and partnership of Petrobangla in responding to this event.
According to sources, there are 26 wells at Bibiyana Gas Field. Of which, six remained closed. After completing the maintenance and repair work, five wells resumed production from early Tuesday, and the remaining one wells will go into production very soon.
Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry on Tuesday said that due to a technical fault developed in the Bibiyana gas field, gas crisis persisted for two days. Our engineers are working restlessly to overcome the crisis. We used to supply 1200 million cubic feet of gas per day. But due to the technical fault, gas production drastically fell. At present, we are supplying 1010 million cubic feet of gas and it will reach 1100 million cubic feet.
