The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) has been reduced. For June, the retail price of a 12kg LPG cylinder has been cut by Tk 55 and set at Tk 1,885. The price of autogas has also been reduced.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the new prices on Tuesday.
The retail price of privately supplied LPG has been fixed at Tk 157.60 per kilogram. Accordingly, the price of a 12kg cylinder is Tk 1,885. In May, the price of the same cylinder was Tk 1,940.
The price of autogas has been reduced from Tk 89.50 per litre to Tk 86.93 per litre, a decrease of Tk 2.57 per litre.
BERC stated that the new prices were determined based on Saudi Aramco’s Contract Prices (CP) for propane and butane for June, along with import costs, freight charges, trader premiums, and the exchange rate of the US dollar.
For June, the CP has been set at US$760 per metric ton for propane and US$820 per metric ton for butane, with an average CP of US$799 per metric ton.
The price of government-supplied LPG will remain unchanged. The price of a 12.5kg government LPG cylinder will stay at Tk 776.93.
In April, LPG prices were increased by a total of Tk 599 in two phases within just 17 days. Although the price remained unchanged in May, it has now been reduced by Tk 55 in June.
On April 2, the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder was increased by Tk 387 to Tk 1,727. Later, on April 19, it was raised by another Tk 212 to Tk 1,940.
