Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the ‘National Power Week-2016’ dated 17-19 November along with the celebration program
as the country’s electricity generation capacity touches a new
milestone of 15,000 MW.
Various programs are organized already accounting the coming
celebration program. Countrywide debate competition has already
initialized among the school going students.
Power Cell director general Mohammad Hossain said to Energy Bangla that, 150 MW more
electricity is about to be added to the national grid within this
month, which will raise the total capacity to 15 thousand and 131 MW.
According to him, 76 percent of this country is now under electricity
coverage.
Sources from Power division informed that, the ‘National Power Week-2016’ will influence the people to be efficient using electricity
and it will raise awareness. A fair will be also be organized as part
of the celebration program, where energy efficient electric and
electronic products will be prioritized.
