If fuel can’t be ensured it affect countries industry sectors even food security. There is no alternative of importing fuel to fulfil the gap between demand and production of energy. Fuel is being wasted because of inefficient appliances in power, fertilizer and industrial sector. This was placed in a seminar titled “Primary Energy and Power: The Roadmap for Entrepreneurship” jointly organized by CEMS Global and Energy Bangla at Bashundhara Convention city. Dr. Izaz Hosen, Professor of Department of Chemical Engineering Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) presented the key note.
State minister of power, energy and mineral resource Nasrul Hamid was the chief guest. Professor and Head of Department of Petroleum, BUET and former adviser of caretaker government Mohammad Tamim; member of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Salim Mahmud; Director General of Power Cell Mohammad Hussain; Managing Director of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited UK Bhattacharya; advisor of CAB and Energy expert Dr. Shamsul Alam; Energy expert and former Director of the PetroBangla Maqbul E Elahi were the panellist in the seminar. Precedent of CEMS Global Mehrun N Islam precented the welcome speech and Editor of Energy Bangla Rafiqul Bashar conducted the seminar.
Most of the power plants, fertilizer factories, industries are not sufficient to use fuel. Also, there is any gas over the past few years. Presently reserve can meet 50 per cent of the demand, informed by the key note.
Mr. Izaz said, alternative fuel needs to be imported to meet the gap between demand and production. Use efficiency can save our fuel. It is possible to fulfil the fuel demand of industry by imported Liquid Natural Gas (LNG). Cole based and Oil fired power plants can ensure the use of alternative fuel moreover people have to use LPG for cooking instead of pipeline gas. It is also important to fixing price of LPG as well as supply on demand.
