Dhaka University student chapter of SPE (Society of Petroleum Engineers) and
Department of Geology, Earth and Environmental faculty of University of Dhaka have
organized SPE Petroleum Conference on 4th and 5th December 2015. This event was
sponsored by KrisEnergy and RMM Group. Honorable chief guest attended on this
occasion was Pro-Vice chancellor (Administration), Professor Dr. Shahid Akhter
Hossain. Special guest was Professor Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Dean, faculty of
Earth and Environmental sciences. The main attractions of this program were Petrobowl
(quiz), poster presentation and seminar. Officials of different multinational petroleum
companies were present on the occasion.
Students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh
University of Engineering and Technology, Jahangirnagar University, Shahjalal
University of Science & Technology were also participated in different events in this
conference. Also guests from BUET and Barisal university will visit the conference.
A student of Department of Geology who participated in this program stated “this type of
conference creates a platform of exposure of young geologists to the national and
multinational companies. I wish programs like this will continue in future in our
Department to provide a good platform for emergence of petroleum geologists”
President of SPE Dhaka University Chapter says “For the first time we arranged a
program successfully and I hope it will continue in future.”
At the closing ceremony Prof. Dr. A. S. M. Maksud Kamal, Dean, Faculty of Earth &
Environmental Sciences will gave crests to the winners on December 05,2015.
