The mercury has been plummeting since Wednesday’s rain. Now the Met Office forecast mild cold wave in most parts of Bangladesh.
Weathermen say the cold wave with the temperature between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius may hit some places after Friday midnight.
Senior weatherman at the Meteorological Department Md Rasheduzzaman said the cold wave might intensify.
Friday’s lowest temperature was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga.
The highest temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius at Teknaf in Chittagong. It rained a little in Sitakunda and Rangamati.
The lowest temperature in other divisions was between 13 to 17 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast for next 24 hours released at 6pm, the Met Office said the weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country.
Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during midnight until noon, it added.
The temperature may drop by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
In the forecast for next five days, the Met Office said it may rain in some places on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meteorological Department Director Shamsuddin Ahmed said a moderate to intense cold wave with the temperature between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius may hit north, north-east, north-west and the middle part of the country later in January.
