Naushad Islam was removed as the managing director (MD) of Titas Gas. Afterwards, he has been appointed the same post of MD of Maddhapara Granite Mining Company Ltd.
Petrobangla has issued the transfer order at Sunday night.
There was a deadly gas explosion on Titas’s line that devastated a residential building in capital’s Banani area on Friday. Criticism from all the spheres of society has accelerated this transfer order of MD.
General Manager (Vigilance) Mir Mashiur Rahman has been made the acting MD of Titas.
The deadly explosion took place at around 1.45AM Friday, in a six-storey building (House-9, Road-23) of Banani.
Residents of that building complained that, a leakage on Titas’s gas line is the sole reason of this explosion. Earlier, the residents informed the local Titas gas authority about the leakage at least for three times. But, unfortunately the Titas authority didn’t take any steps to solve the leakage issue. As a result Dhaka North City Corp. authority is also accusing Titas for this explosion. Titas was informed of a leakage by one of the owner of that exploded building, but it (Titas) failed to show any sort of accountability. However, an employee of Titas was temporarily suspended on charge of irregularities already.
