Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to hold a Press Conference on
the next Saturday addressing the Rampal Power Plant issue.
Sources from Power Division confirmed that, the Prime Minister is
going to express her opinions regarding the Rampal plant and hopefully
will answer the critics of the project.
Today, the PM had a meeting with the Power secretary Monwar Islam and
the officials of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited
(BIFPCL)-the company responsible for implementing the coal-fired power
plant of Rampal. The power secretary also confirmed at the meeting
about the upcoming press conference of the prime minister.
Earlier, on Wednesday BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia criticized the
Rampal project from every possible aspects and demanded scraping of
the project as soon as possible.
