A ‘Judicial Conference on Environment and Climate Change’ will be held in Dhaka on November 25 and 26. The chief justices of five countries of south Asia are expected to attend the conference, according to the sources.
Bangladesh Supreme Court and Asian Development Bank (ADB) are the organizer of this conference. The conference will be hosted at Hotel Radisson in Dhaka.
President Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the conference, sources informed. The conference’s focus on climate change is timely in light of the recent Paris Agreement on Climate Change and the Sustainable Development Goals, SC sources said.
The chief justices of five countries- Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Srilanka and Malaysia are expected to attend the conference. Besides, Supreme Court Justices from Bangladesh and senior Justices from UK and India are about to attend the conference, claimed sources. Experts, activists and Environmentalists are also going to attend the program.
This is for the first time Bangladesh is organizing such a Judicial Conference in this country. However, roundtable talks and seminars were arranged on ‘Judicial Conference on Environment and Climate Change’ in past.
