Bangladesh-India enclave exchange soon: Mamata

Indian West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said realistic steps are being taken to resolve long-standing problem over exchange of enclaves between India and Bangladesh.

She said this when Bangladesh Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif called on her in Kolkata on April 13, said an official release here today.

The issue of exchanging enclaves between the two countries got prominence during the hour-long meeting. Mamata Banerjee assured Bangladesh land minister that the complications over exchanging enclaves would be resolved soon.

She expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the hospitality she received during her Bangladesh visit recently.

The West Bengal chief minister extended her full support to Bangladesh’s initiative to make Bangla an official language in the United Nations.

In reply to questions from journalists in Kolkata, Shamsur Rahman Sharif said Bangladesh does not shelter terrorists.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken tough steps to check militancy and terrorism, he added.
