At a grand ceremony held in Singapore on June 21st, Chevron Bangladesh received an Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award from Enterprise Asia for its exemplary corporate responsibility initiatives. The company’s External Affairs Director, Naser Ahmed, formally accepted the trophy at the event, where 23 other organizations were also honored.
Chevron Bangladesh received the award for the social empowerment initiatives it undertakes that impact approximately 30,000 people residing near its facilities in the North-East of the country. The core themes of its programs are economic development, education and health care. Through these initiatives, 4,000 families are directly engaged in economic development program that provide livelihood support and skills training, over 3,000 underserved children attend pre-primary schools, over 1,500 high school students receive need and merit-based scholarships, and 130,000 medical services are provided every year from three community clinics that are sponsored by the company.
