Corruption Courses Slow Progress In Energy Sector

State minister of Power, energy and mineral resource Nasrul Hamid said, progress of energy sector is slow because of corruption. We are trying to boost the progress of this sector. 2016 will be the year to free Energy sector from corruption.
Mr. Hamid said this in a seminar organized by CEMS Global and Energy Bangla titled “Primary Energy and Power: The Road map for Entrepreneur” on Saturday.
Mr. Hamid added there is corruption in energy sector. Spatially while providing new connections in rural area. We will try to omit this but it is not possible to remove corruption totally. Everything is being devitalized. It will decrease some sort of corruption. Energy sector is in danger point but there is not to wary about. Because if we can implement the planning the gap between demand and production we be decreased. It will take 2 to 3 year to get result.
70 per cent household demand will fulfil by LPG. We are working on it. We will increase use of imported gas. We are making 3 new LNG terminals. Industries will be run by imported LNG. We are investing additional one billion dollar on hydro electricity.
Dr. Ijaz Hosen, Professor of Department of Chemical Engineering Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) presented the key note.

Professor and Head of Department of Petroleum, BUET and former adviser of caretaker government Mohammad Tamim; member of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Salim Mahmud; Director General of Power Cell Mohammad Hussain; Managing Director of Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited UK Bhattacharya; advisor of CAB and Energy expert Dr. Shamsul Alam; Energy expert and former Director of the PetroBangla Maqbul E Elahi were the panelist in the seminar. Precedent of CEMS Global Mehrun N Islam presented the welcome speech and Editor of Energy Bangla Rafiqul Bashar conducted the seminar.
Most of the power plants, fertilizer factories, industries are not sufficient to use fuel. Also, there is any gas over the past few years. Presently reserve can meet 50 per cent of the demand, informed on the key note.

Uk Bhattacharya said integrated fuel policy is needed in Bangladesh. The primary energy is decreasing gradually. Fuel import may get top priority. He added Coal will be cost sufficient for Rampal project. There are any best alternatives of coal as fuel for the project. Coal will be used by making environment friendly.
Samsul Alom said government officers should be omitted from this sector and makes it corruption free.
Mokbul Ilahi said we should use the fund to explore fuel. We have to ensure energy security by exploration. Then it will be possible to ensure countries future energy security.
Alternative fuel needs to be imported to meet the gap between demand and production. Use efficiency can save our fuel. It is possible to fulfill the fuel demand of industry by imported Liquid Natural Gas (LNG). Cole based and Oil fired power plants can ensure the use of alternative fuel moreover people have to use LPG for cooking instead of pipeline gas. It is also important to fixing price of LPG as well as supply on demand also said in the key note.
