DHAKA, Dec 09, 2013 (BSS) – The very severe cyclonic storm ‘Madi’ over Southwest Bay and adjoining West Central Bay moved
slightly northwards and now lies over West central Bay and adjoining Southwest Bay.
It was centred at 6 am today about 1245 kms Southwest of Chittagong port, 1185 kms Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port and 1110 kms South-Southwest of Mongla port, said a Met office bulletin.
It is likely to move in a northerly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 74 kms of the storm
centre is about 120 kph rising to 140 kph in gusts. Sea will
remain very high near the storm centre.
The met office kept its warning signal number two, in a scale
of 10 as it was issued yesterday for the seaports of Chittagong
and Mongla and Cox’s Bazar.
“All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been
advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till
further notice,” the statement said.
