Indian Capital New Delhi today experienced the coldest day of the season with day temperatures dropping to 4.2 degrees Celsius even as dense fog continued to disrupt railway services.
The city was engulfed by dense fog with the visibility slumping to 200 metre and the humidity at 8:30 am was recorded at 97 percent, according to the weather office in India.
According to the Northern Railway, 35 trains were cancelled while 14 were running late due to dense fog in and around Delhi. One train had to be rescheduled.
“Today was the season’s coldest morning. Dense fog in Delhi and it’s adjoining areas continue to affect the visibility. The weather is likely to remain the same in the coming days,” said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
