For the first time electricity generation has crossed 9000 MW mark. Thursday evening electricity generation was 9036 MW. This is the highest generation.
Bangladesh has yet again generated record power in a day. Power Development Board (PDB) spokesman Saiful Hasan Chowdhury said the power plants fed the national grid 9036 MW at evening on Thursday.
Bangladesh’s capability to generate power has increased threefold to 11,000 MW in the seven years of the Awami League’s two consecutive terms.
Power generation has also nearly doubled. On Sep 19, 2008, the highest power generation was around 5,000 MW.
The government is working on setting up a nuclear power plant and a base load power plant to upgrade Bangladesh to a middle-income country within 2021
