EPC Signed For Paira Plants in 29th March

A deal is going to be signed at 29th of March next, on installing a
1,320 MW Power Plant in the seashore of Payra.

Bangladesh-China Power Company (Pvt) Limited (BCPCL) will be
constructing this Power Plant.

The Managing Director of BCPCL and North-West Power Generation Company
Limited (NWPGCL) A M Khorshdadul Alam has confirmed Energy Bangla that, the auction was over
successfully. A final agreement is only left to be signed yet and deal
signing and foundation laying ceremony is going to take place in two
consecutive days, he added. National Electric Power Corporation (NEPC)
of China will install this power plant.

China Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) and NWPGCL has
formed a joint venture company on the basis of equal partnership
namely BCPCL. NWPGCL and CMC will jointly invest 30 percent of the
total cost of this project. Rest 70 percent will be collected as bank
loan. CMC is the company which built the country’s only Thermal Power
Plant of 250 MW which is situated in Barapukuria. The Barapukuria
plant is in a sub-critical stage now, whereas Patukhali’s Payra Power
Plant will be a latest technology based Power Plant.

This Power plant will be constructed near to the Payra seaport of
Patuakhali. The production cost of per Kilowatt/Hour (Unit) will be
around 6.50 BDT.

According to the conditions of the Tender, builder need not wait
starting the installment process until any financing agreement is
sealed. Building procedure needs to be started soon after the
agreement signing. According to the conditions, the builder will be
able to complete 25 percent of the project before signing the
financing agreement.
