The gas supply may be interrupted in Dhaka city areas and also in the
vicinities including Narayanganj, Siddhirganj, Fatulla, Muktarpur and
Jinjira. The interruption may last from 25th August to 1st September,
due to a schedule cleaning-pigging in the gas transmission lines in
those areas.
Sources from Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd. has
confirmed about the scheduled ‘on stream cleaning-pigging’ of the gas
transmission lines in those areas. Titas wants to make the
transmission line free of heavy Hydrocarbon and particles. Gas
Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) will undertake the
cleaning-pigging procedure. The 61 km transmission line from Ashuganj
to Bakhrabad and 60 km transmission line from Bakhrabad to Siddhirganj
will be pigged up.
Mir Mashiur Rahman, the Managing Director of Titas said that, the
transmission line of GTCL have got messy and it was needed to be
cleaned and pigged up. So, the transmission line may need to keep shut
at time to time. The gas pressure may remain low or even there would
be no gas in the mentioned areas from 25th August to 1st September.
