Gas Price Hike 22.73%

The government has raised the price of gas for once more. This time the price of gas was raised by 22.73 percent on an average. Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) released a public notice regarding the revised prices on Thursday.

The charge of household gas will hike by 50 percent on an average for single burner and the charge of double burner will hike by 46 percent on an average. Household meter users will counter a record hike of 60 percent in gas charge.

The new price of gas will enact in two phases, first from 1st March and the second phase will be enforced from 1st June of this year.

In the first phase, the charge of single burner gas stove will be 750 Taka and the charge of the double burner will be 800 Taka which was previously 600 and 650 Taka respectively. The price of a cubic meter of CNG will be Tk 38.

In the second phase, the charge of the single burner will be raised to 900 and the double burner cost will be950 Taka, while the price of per cubic meter of CNG will be 40 Taka.

The charge of gas in electricity generation is now 2.82 Taka which will remain unchanged in the first phase but will be raised to 3.16 Taka in the second phase.

The charge of gas in fertilizer factories is now 2.58 Taka which will be hiked to 2.64 Taka in the first phase and will be raised to 2.71 Taka in the second phase.

The charge of gas in industrial units is now 6.74 Taka which will be hiked to 7.24 Taka in the first phase and will be raised to 7.76 Taka in the second phase.

The charge of gas in tea gardens is now 6.45 Taka which will be hiked to 6.93 Taka in the first phase and will be raised to 7.42 Taka in the second phase.

The charge of gas in commercial units is now 11.35 Taka which will be hiked to 14.20 Taka in the first phase and will be raised to 17.04 Taka in the second phase.
