The price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder has been reduced by Tk 15 to Tk 1,341, down from Tk 1,356. The price per kilogram has been set at Tk 111.79.
According to a notification signed by Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam on Monday, the price has been revised following the National Board of Revenue’s (NBR) decision to withdraw Value Added Tax (VAT) at the production stage and impose a 7.5 percent VAT at the import stage.
On February 16, the Internal Resources Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a notification reducing VAT on LPG imports.
The price of a 5.5 kg cylinder has been set at Tk 615, a 15 kg cylinder at Tk 1,677, and a 45 kg cylinder at Tk 5,031.
The price of the 12.5 kg cylinder supplied by the state-owned LP Gas Limited remains unchanged at Tk 776.93.
The price of autogas used in transport has been fixed at Tk 61.86 per litre.
BERC has warned that legal action will be taken against those found charging more than the fixed price.
