The National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports has been holding nationwide protest rallies against Rampal power project near the Sundarbans.
Some days ago, the organisation announced the protest events in every district sadar.
The main event started on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka with the participation of its activists, some leftist organisations as well as the common people around 11am.
The event’s journey took place through a patriotic song and it would continue till 6pm.
Besides, patriotic dramas, songs and poems were staged there. Several prominent personalities addressed the event.
Around 1,000 people joined there and the presence of participants was on the increase gradually.
