Government has increased the electricity tariff by 2.97 percent and gas price by 26.29 percent for retail customers.
It will be effective from September 1.
Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission ( BERC) announced the price hike on Thursday afternoon .
According to the announcement , customers will pay Tk 600 and Tk 650 for single and double burners respectively.
During 2013 and 2014, the government hiked power prices six times – the latest by a big slap of 6.96 percent in March last year.
