The National Committee to Protect Oil-Gas-Natural Resources and Power-Port proclaimed, arranging a Protest Procession on this Monday to repeal the much talked Rampal Project. Besides, the committee also announced several fresh action schedules, including a demonstration towards the Prime Minister’s office on 28th of July.
Leaders of the National Committee announced these programmes at a press conference arranged at the Mukti Bhaban in the capital. The National Committee member secretary Prof Anu Mohammad said that, the more this project will forward, the more the discontent will raise against India. In order to repeal this mega project, he urged the mass of both the countries to step forward. “The circumstantial evidence suggests India is so much aggressive to implement the Rampal project to make their presence in the Bay of Bengal,” he told to reporters.
Prof Anu remarked that, Bangladesh’s strategy should be getting out of Rampal project as soon as possible as this project will be harmful to bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh.
Other leaders of the committee Haider Akbar Khan Rono, Saiful Haque, Bazlur Rashid Feroz, advocate Abdus Salam, and Prof. Moshahida Sultana were present also on the occasion. Committee member engineer Kallol Mostafa made a presentation on the Rampal power plant’s negative impact on the Sundarbans.
