State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Saturday said the people who were in enclaves will be covered by electricity very soon.
He said this while speaking at a conference with REB’s General Managers. The organization holds the GM level conference in regular interval due to motivating the official.
Rural Electrification Board (REB), a non profitable power service provider organization, held a conference on Saturday in its conference hall.
REB Chairman Brig Gen Moinuddin declared that by 2015-16 the REB Samity will set up 30 thousands more power distribution lines aiming at connecting 30 lakh consumers.
In last five years the REB has installed 34,3487km distribution lines, we have to install one lakh more. Already 2,223 villages have been provided electricity through 24 lakh new connection. 90 per cent of the off-grid area would be covered under rural electrification facility by 2021 and more than 0.8 million applicants would be given connections soon.
General Manger from 77 Samity of REB and Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman A R Khan, Power Development Chairman K M Hasan, Managing Director of Power Grid Company Bangladesh Masum Al Beruni also were present in the
conference.
