Solar Panel : Saving Costs Of Power And Energy Week

Nasrul Hamid, the state minister for power, energy and mineral resources said that, solar home system will be provided in the off-grid areas (areas that have no grid power) through saving the costs during Power and Energy Week 2016. Scouts can assist here to select those areas and houses, he added.

The state minister made this statement while inaugurating a two-day program called ‘Training of Trainers’ of Bangladesh Scouts at Power Division on the occasion of the ‘Fifth National Power and Energy Camp-2016’. Director General of Power Cell Mohammad Hossain presided over the program.

“Scouts can play a very conducive role in forging a social campaign in saving energy in a cost-effective way,” said Nasrul Hamid, the chief guest of the program. He also urged country’s 15 lakh scouts and other patriotic people to provide all-out cooperation to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to build a developed country.

The state minister declared a reward for ‘best motivator’ category that will be selected from the scouts and requested the authority to provide the reward at the coming Power and Energy Week.

The camp is being held since 2012 to make Scouts and the Rover Scouts aware of such energy use and so that they can create mass awareness about it. This year, 360 at central and 840 at region levels will be given the opportunity to take part in the training course under the camp.

The training was arranged ahead of the 5th National Power and Energy Camp-2016 to be held on December 20-24 for the Rover Scouts in district towns and on December 20-23 for Scouts in Upazila headquarters.

President of Bangladesh Scouts and Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Abdul Kalam Azad and Chief Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Senior Secretary of Home Ministry Dr. Mohammad Mojammel Haque Khan also spoke on the occasion.
