The World Environment Day, 2015 is being observed in the country as elsewhere around the world with a view to creating awareness about using the natural resources efficiently. The theme for this year’s WED is “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care”. World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on 5th June throughout the world with different themes. It is celebrated across the globe to create awareness about the importance of protecting planet Earth and Mother Nature. Various programmes, including colourful procession, rally, painting exhibition, essay writing competition among juveniles and children and open discussion, have been taken across the country in observance of the day. Meanwhile, on the eve of the World Environment Day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon all to be more careful to protect the environment, according to a news agency.
